Speaker Bios

Michael C. Frank (Stanford, confirmed) is the Benjamin Scott Crocker Professor of Human Biology at Stanford University and Director of the Symbolic Systems Program. He studies children’s language acquisition and cross-cultural development using large-scale datasets.

Uri Hasson (Princeton, confirmed) is a Professor in the Psychology Department and the Neuroscience Institute at Princeton University. His research investigates how the brain processes information in the world and interacts with the environment, with a specific focus on natural language processing and human face-to-face communication.

Kristen Grauman (UT Austin, confirmed) is a Professor of Computer Science at UT Austin and a former Director at Meta’s FAIR lab. Her research in computer vision and machine learning focuses on video understanding and embodied perception.

Freda Shi (U Waterloo, confirmed) is an Assistant Professor in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo and a Faculty Member at the Vector Institute. Her research interests are in computational linguistics, natural language processing, and cognitive science, as well as related aspects of machine learning.

Cordelia Schmid (Inria, unconfirmed) is a Research Director at Inria and holds a joint appointment with Google Research. Her research focuses on computer vision, specialized in image matching, learning visual models, and fundamental video and image retrieval technologies.
